Pastor Artis Edwards, Sr, a Liberty, Texas native, is the founder and visionary of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church of Brenham, Texas. This year, Pastor Edwards will celebrate 35 years of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ; and his 18h year as Pastor of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church. He received his Associate’s degree from Blinn College, a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State University, and his Master’s of Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Pastor Edwards retired as a Principal, after over 30 years in the Education system.
Pastor Edwards believes in preaching and teaching the word of God, and just as importantly, he believes that we must “live” the word. His favorite scripture is Romans 10:9. Pastor Edwards works to ensure that everyone he comes in contact with knows about goodness of Jesus. Pastor Edwards is a tremendous pillar in the Brenham community and recognized for his passionate preachings, administrative leadership, volunteered services, and christian influence.
Pastor Edwards and his lovely Wife, Windgale Edwards were joined in holy matrimony on July 31, 1982, celebrating 40 years of holy matrimony this year. Together, they have 3 wonderful children. Minister Kenya Mitchell, who is married to Pastor Kevin Mitchell I, Artis Edwards, Jr., and Derreck Edwards. They also are blessed with three grandchildren: Kevin II, Kennedi, and Kayla.
